The Building Maintenance Technician (BMT) - Painter will apply coats of paint, varnish, stains, wall paper , enamels, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior surfaces. Will be able to apply a wide variety of surface applications and meet professional standards of an experienced tradesman including signs. The ability to perform small wall repairs and proper surface preparation. Will assist with minor maintenance and service as needed to support ongoing facility operations for the Facilities Department that are initiated through work requests or as dispatched by the control room, call center , and or a member of management in accordance with Hospital standards. The BMT - Painter will provide direct general labor support to all trades. Will be responsible for the procurement and pick up of any and all materials requested by trades. Will perform low level installations, furniture assembly, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintain general building systems and structure. Will perform snow removal as needed and perform basic low level maintenance service and assist in the repairs in the areas of plumbing, electrical, carpentry , painting, plastering. Will respond to low-level request in order of priority and assists both with routine-to-complex request on an as needed basis. Will ensure smooth transition of responsibilities to next shift and respond to all hospital emergencies of any nature which include but is not limited to leaks, fire alarms, odors, snow removal, etc.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Basic level mechanical/plumbing and electrical training required; Demonstrates ability to use PC; General knowledge of internet. (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
5 years of painting and related experience (Required)
6 years experience as a full-fledged tradesman (Required)
1 year related and progressive experience (Required)
1 year general maintenance, carpentry, mechanical/plumbing and electrical experience (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge
Familiarity with automated work order systems
Ability to use internet
Willingness to learn new software or programs related to field
Carpentry, mechanical/plumbing and electrical experience
Required Licenses and Certifications
Valid driver’s license (Required)
