Job Description
Montgomery College, Rockville has an immediate need for Building Maintenance Mechanic. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:30 – 4:00pm. This is a bargaining, non-Exempt, grade 23 position. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform the work of journey level carpenters, masons and painters to build, install, and finish work related to preventative maintenance activities.
- Respond to service calls for college building maintenance and repairs, including but not limited to wall patches, broken or damaged windows, damaged doors, ceilings, roof patches, and floors.
- Maintain repair and preventative maintenance logs.
- Design plans for cabinet, shelving, benches and table construction.
- Prepare estimates of material, time and labor necessary to complete a job, and complete requisition for materials, tools and equipment.
- Prepare required documentation for expenditures and work order requests.
- Construct/install cabinets, shelves, benches and tables.
- Assist and perform concrete and masonry repairs.
- Maintain a clean worksite and shop area.
- Store shop equipment (including manual and power tools).
- Identify worn or broken tools and recommend replacement.
- Create, track and process work orders using work order database.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED and completion of a vocational or apprentice-level training program in carpentry, masonry, painting, electrical or other building trades work.
- Five years of experience performing general building maintenance or construction involving carpentry, masonry, painting, basic electrical and/or other building trades work.
- The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
Hiring Range: $26.84 - $34.89 hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $42.93.
