This is the first level of inspections work. Incumbents inspect, approve, or reject all phases of public and private construction and improvements to ensure compliance with plans, standards, specifications, codes and regulations, permits, and any special requirements. Assignments involve inspection of new residential and commercial construction, alteration and repair work. Incumbents work independently in the field and are responsible for making decisions requiring technical discretion, sound judgment, and familiarity with the City's adopted building codes. Incumbents recommend issuance of correction notices or approvals as appropriate and compile reports, maintain logs, records, perform related activities, and provide direction to design professionals, contractors and property owners.
High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two years experience in construction, building inspection or building trades. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona driver license.
