Augusta, Georgia is currently recruiting for Building Inspectors in the following three areas:
Building Inspectors are responsible for conducting on-site inspections of commercial and residential buildings to ensure work meets code requirements within the guidelines of International and National Codes and relevant state and Augusta Richmond County codes. Reports to the Building Official or other designated person and works with contractors, engineers, fire and health department officials, homeowners, and the pubic to ensure code compliance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED
Licensing: Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving history. If State license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment. (These positions require driving a county vehicle)
Hiring grade is based on experience and certifications as outlined below. All applicants will be considered for grade 15. A higher entry level salary grade could be warranted depending on years of experience and ICC certifications.
Building Inspector I (Grade 15):
Certification: Possess or have ability to obtain ICC Certification for inspections within 12 months of hire date or promotion.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in construction that may include building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing
Building Inspector II (Grade 16):
Certification: Two (2) ICC certifications are required
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in construction that may include building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing
Building Inspector III (Grade 17):
Certification: Three (3) ICC certifications are required
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in construction that may include building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing
Building Inspector IV (Grade 18):
Certification: Four (4) ICC certifications are required. One of these certifications must be in Plan Examination from Commercial Code.
Experience: Nine (9) years of experience in construction that may include building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing
