Wood is recruiting for a BIM Manager to join its Malaysia Business Unit, supporting the delivery of large‑scale data centre construction projects. The role will operate as part of the Onsite Owner’s Representative team, acting on behalf of the Owner to lead BIM/VDC strategy, governance, coordination, and model quality across the full project lifecycle.
#LI-Onsite
The Role
The BIM Manager will act as the Owner’s Representative for BIM/VDC, responsible for end‑to‑end project model management and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)/BIM360 administration. The role oversees BEP compliance for AE and GC teams, drives multidisciplinary coordination, assures model quality and data integrity, and enables downstream uses including 4D schedule integration, quantity take‑offs (QTO), reality capture, commissioning readiness, CMMS asset templating, and construction/record model close‑out.
This position requires deep experience in fast‑track, mission‑critical environments, with a strong focus on standards governance, cross‑disciplinary collaboration, and delivering accurate, usable, and compliant digital deliverables for construction and operations.
What we can offer
BIM/VDC Governance & Administration
• Lead project BIM/VDC implementation and act as Owner’s ACC/BIM360 project administrator: workspace setup, user access, permissions, and environment configuration
• Review and approve AE BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and GC BIM Execution Plan; capture additions/modifications to meet Owner’s VDC/BIM requirements
• Establish standards for model structure, data schemas, naming, version control, and model handover protocols
Coordination, Quality & Clash Management
• Oversee AE and GC model coordination, ensuring timely model transitions and adherence to BEP requirements
• Perform QA/QC at project milestones; monitor GC clash coordination and issue resolution, communicating review comments at coordination meetings
• Attend page turns, onboarding sessions, BIM coordination meetings; record minutes and assign actions/POCs to drive closure
Planning Integration & Analytics
• Assist with 4D (schedule integration) model requirements and BIM‑integrated construction sequencing
• Lead/assist QTO delivery planning, ensuring milestones are incorporated to remove program blockers
• Aggregate BIM data inputs for dashboards and business intelligence reporting
Reality Capture & Field Verification
• Support implementation of site reality capture (e.g., drone workflows, LiDAR scanning) and ensure outputs are integrated into coordination and quality workflows
• Participate in VDC/BIM‑purpose site walks and inspections to validate model‑to‑field alignment
Asset Data, CMMS & Operations Enablement
• Coordinate with Data Center Operations (DCOps) CMMS teams to review and finalize product asset templates within the model and asset list extraction
• Assure data validity to enable commissioning, operations, and maintenance use cases
Record Model, Documentation & Close‑out
• Monitor GC’s redline and record model processes; review and approve AE/GC record BIM models, shop drawings, and fit‑out drawings for compliance
• Collaborate with CAD/BIM Managed Service teams (where applicable) and manage IFC/construction handover processes
• Provide written monthly status reports, QA/QC check reports, clash and standards compliance reports, BIM assessments, and post‑mortems/user guides as required
