Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As a Building & Facilities Operator, you will support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of Vancity’s buildings and facilities through daily monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and coordination with service vendors. This role plays a key part in ensuring building systems run smoothly, supporting occupant comfort, regulatory compliance, and operational continuity. We are looking for a hands-on, safetyfocused facilities professional who is comfortable working on-site and collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at our Vancity facilities in Vancouver and will report directly to the Manager, Facilities Management. This role is Monday to Friday and 35 hours per week

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Performing daily operational checks of HVAC, pumps, compressors, and basic mechanical systems
  • Monitoring building systems and escalating mechanical or safety issues promptly
  • Completing routine preventative maintenance tasks such as filter changes, lubrication, and inspections
  • Supporting seasonal start-up and shutdown activities under guidance
  • Assisting with water treatment monitoring and following regulatory compliance procedures
  • Coordinating vendor and contractor access for maintenance, repairs, and testing
  • Supporting emergency power, life-safety, and critical systems activities
  • Conducting daily rounds to help maintain occupant comfort and building reliability

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of experience in building operations, facilities maintenance, or a related technical environment
  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical systems such as HVAC, pumps, and compressors
  • Experience supporting preventative maintenance programs
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with vendors and escalate issues appropriately
  • Comfort working fully on-site in an operational facilities environment
  • Technical proficiency in Direct Digital Control (DDC) building automation systems and service request/ticketing platforms (e.g., Facilities or CMMS systems) for effective monitoring, troubleshooting, and work order management.

Extra Skills That Set You Apart: (if required)

  • Experience supporting data centre or other critical environments
  • Familiarity with water treatment monitoring or basic chemical handling
  • Exposure to generator, UPS, or life-safety system testing

What You’ll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of $55,300 to $68,250 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
