Job Description

The Building Engineer - HVAC / VRF is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of HVAC and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems within facilities. This position ensures that all HVAC equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while maintaining occupant comfort and supporting overall facility operations.

Shift: Monday - Friday | Day Shift

Payrate: $48-$58 hourly rate | Weekly pay

Location: Laguna Hills, Ca

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, trade school, or associate degree in HVAC, Mechanical Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of commercial HVAC maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience servicing VRF systems such as Mitsubishi, Daikin, LG, Samsung, Fujitsu, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Experience working in commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, hotels, industrial properties, or institutional environments.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Knowledge of VRF system design, controls, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of refrigeration cycles and heat pump operation.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, motors, drives, and controls.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple maintenance tasks.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Computer proficiency for work order and maintenance management software.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (Required or obtained within designated timeframe)
  • HVAC Technician Certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Stationary Engineer License (where applicable)
  • Valid Driver's License
