Job Description
The Building Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of building systems and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous facility operations. This role performs preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Pay: $29.00 / hour.
The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
401(k) – You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment. You become eligible for the ABM match beginning the first of the month following six months of employment. ABM matches your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions, dollar for dollar, for the first 3%. For the next 2%, ABM contributes $0.50 for each dollar you contribute. Your contributions and match are immediately vested.

- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, including air handlers, rooftop units, VAV boxes, pumps, motors, and controls.
- Maintain and repair electrical systems, lighting, outlets, breakers, and related components.
- Perform plumbing repairs including faucets, toilets, piping, valves, and drain systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of building systems and document findings.
- Monitor and maintain building automation systems (BAS).
- Respond to tenant service requests and emergency maintenance situations.
- Perform fire and life safety inspections, testing, and documentation.
- Maintain mechanical equipment including boilers, chillers, generators, and pumps.
- Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and safety regulations.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, parts, and tools.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs and projects.
- Support facility improvement projects and equipment installations.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical training or trade certification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial building maintenance or engineering experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with building automation systems and work order management software.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and on-call rotations as needed.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
