Job Overview:
KIPP Atlanta seeks an experienced Building Engineer. This position is under the direct supervision of the Regional Facilities Manager. The Building Engineer is responsible for routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of school facilities and grounds, and requires responsiveness to facilities-related emergencies. This hands-on role supports day-to-day operations by ensuring that building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical remain in good working order, contributing to a safe, functional learning environment for scholars and staff.

- - - - Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lighting.

- - - - Assist in maintaining an inventory of tools, supplies, and maintenance equipment.

QualificationsCandidate

Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of verifiable maintenance experience in a school, office, or similar setting.
- Demonstrated experience in at least one core trade: HVAC, plumbing, or electrical.
- Ability to read and follow basic work orders, safety procedures, and equipment manuals.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with a strong preference for candidates with Building Automation Systems or Energy Management Systems (BAS/EMS) software
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Project Management experience preferred
- Good verbal and written communication skills

Additional information:
This is a non-exempt (hourly) position.  Compensation for this role is between $31-$37 per hour. The starting pay will depend on various factors that may include but are not limited to professional experience, education, training, and certifications. This role is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with FLSA guidelines.

Location & Work Conditions:
This position requires:
- This role requires schedule flexibility; work hours vary based on campus needs and may include evenings and occasional weekends.
- This position requires routine physical activity associated with normal office environments.
- Ability to engage in school-based activities requiring standing, walking, and mobility
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.
- Position involves frequent physical activity and use of tools and equipment.
