About the Service
Nottingham City Council is investing significantly in its Building Control Service, making this an exciting time to join us.
We are embarking on a major programme of growth, doubling the size of our Building Control team to meet increasing demand, strengthen resilience and provide an even better service to the people, businesses and developers of Nottingham. This investment reflects our commitment to public safety, regulatory excellence and delivering a modern, customer-focused Building Control service.
As a Local Authority Building Control team, our primary focus is protecting people and places. Every day, our Registered Building Inspectors play a critical role in ensuring buildings are safe, accessible, sustainable and compliant with Building Regulations. Our work directly contributes to safer homes, schools, hospitals, workplaces and public buildings across the city.
Alongside our growth programme, we are investing in new technology and digital tools that will enable our inspectors to work more efficiently, spend more time adding value on site and reduce administrative burdens. We are also delivering an extensive learning and development programme, supporting staff to maintain and expand their competencies in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
We are committed to developing the next generation of building control professionals through our "grow your own" approach. Significant investment is being made in apprenticeships, mentoring and career development, creating opportunities for experienced surveyors to help shape and influence the future of the profession.
If you're looking for a role where your expertise is valued, your professional development is supported, and your work genuinely makes a difference to the safety of communities, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Building Inspector (Class 2A minimum) to join a growing and ambitious Building Control Service at a time of significant investment and change.
As a Building Control Officer, you will be responsible for assessing applications, undertaking site inspections and providing practical, professional advice to customers and stakeholders. You will work on a varied and interesting portfolio of projects across Nottingham, helping to ensure that buildings are safe, compliant and fit for the people who use them.
You'll be supported by an experienced and collaborative team that values professional judgement, continuous learning and high-quality customer service. Whether inspecting new homes, commercial developments or alterations to existing buildings, your work will have a direct and visible impact on the safety and quality of the built environment.
This role offers excellent opportunities to broaden your experience, maintain and develop your competencies, and work alongside experienced Principal Surveyors and Managers in a service that is committed to investing in its people.
