This is a great position for someone passionate about building community and working in a collaborative and supportive environment. The successful candidate will help maintain Fillmore’s landmark Territorial Statehouse State Park, keeping it attractive as one of the premier “Third Places” of Millard County. We have big plans, including our museum’s upcoming 100th anniversary, and need someone who shares the vision of what the park is AND what it can still become. We are looking for a dedicated leader and skilled Building and Grounds Supervisor to help us preserve this unique resource while providing an exceptional experience for our visitors.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

Oversees building and grounds maintenance at Territorial Statehouse State Park. Manages a budget and part-time seasonal maintenance staff member. Assists with managing other seasonal staff as needed. Keeps internal and Division records up to date. Completes and records work orders for tasks. Handles surplus property disposal. Ensures cleanliness and safety of facilities and grounds. Assists with general park operation, including customer service, covering the gift shop and museum, helping with summer camps and other group programs, and monitors grounds and facilities during public and community events.

  • Ability to understand and communicate primarily in English, manage time appropriately in a busy environment, perform basic customer service, and manage a team.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance and groundskeeping tasks including use of hand and power tools, small equipment, and vehicles.
  • Knowledge of basic math for measuring, making change, and estimating dimensions. Ability to keep a clean and safe workspace.
  • Knowledge of groundskeeping, irrigation systems, steam boiler systems, historic preservation, plumbing, electrical, construction.
  • Skilled in operating/repairing small equipment like light tractors, UTVs, and other vehicles; pulling trailers; planning projects; estimating costs.
  • Ability to monitor conditions over time, troubleshoot problems, and identify solutions.

Many tasks will involve working outdoors, lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, operating equipment, and standing or sitting for long periods. Successful candidate must be able to assist with staffing the park, including the gift shop and museum, group tours, public programming, community events, and other situations as needed.

Most work must be completed during business hours (Monday through Saturday, 9-5), although we offer some flexibility to accommodate weather, the nature of individual tasks, family and personal needs, etc. Some tasks involve ladders and heights.
