Looking for a scenic workplace near the High Uintas, with easy access to Park City and Salt Lake City? Rockport State Park is seeking a motivated Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to help maintain and improve one of Utah’s premier recreation destinations.

Rockport offers a unique mix of land and water recreation, featuring campgrounds, group-use areas, a marina, trails, historic facilities, and extensive infrastructure. In this role, you will lead maintenance staff, oversee facility and grounds operations, coordinate projects, manage equipment and utilities, and help ensure a safe, high-quality experience for park visitors.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise maintenance staff and daily work assignments.
  • Plan and coordinate facility, grounds, trail, and infrastructure maintenance projects.
  • Perform and oversee construction, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and landscaping work.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment, vehicles, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Inspect park facilities, grounds, and equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate staff while promoting a safe work environment.
  • Manage maintenance resources, materials, and budget expenditures.
  • Enforce safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to emergencies and resolve operational and maintenance issues.
  • Assist with project planning, facility improvements, and long-term asset management.

Qualifications:

  • The ability to supervise others by communicating effectively, establishing work assignments and effectively evaluating work performance.
  • Must have basic computer skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of Park Management including park operations, budgeting, maintenance, interpretation, resource protection, inter-agency cooperation, long-range planning.
  • Leadership skills.

  • Problem-solving skills.

Work may involve physical exertion, including long periods of standing, walking over rough or rocky terrain, and frequent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or reaching.

The position may also involve exposure to potentially hazardous or unusual environmental conditions, such as extreme weather, remote wilderness areas, or work on watercraft and OHVs.

A valid driver’s license is required. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a CDL, Backflow Certification, Culinary Water Certification, or licenses and certifications in areas such as general contracting, building, electrical, HVAC, welding, plumbing, and related fields.

Some travel and on-call may be required.

There may be potential housing.
