Position Summary:
Wausau Tile is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-minded individual to support the upkeep and appearance of our facilities and grounds. The Building and Grounds Technician plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and visually appealing environment that supports the company’s professional image. This role involves maintaining building interiors and exteriors, lawns, hard surfaces, and gravel areas while assisting with general facility maintenance and inspections. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently or as part of a team while following safety procedures and maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance
Move, assemble, repair, and replace office furniture as needed.
Repair and paint interior walls.
Replace light bulbs and remedy building ceiling insulation and ceiling tiles.
Perform minor plumbing maintenance and refill soap dispensers.
Conduct HVAC filter changes.
Perform regular facility inspections and report issues as needed.
Cleaning & Equipment Operation
Power wash exterior walls and hard surfaces.
Operate ride-on floor scrubbers and sweepers to maintain interior floors.
Strip floors and maintain hard surface finishes.
Clean and wash company vehicles.
Grounds Maintenance
Maintain lawns using trimmers, edgers, mowers, and perform trash removal.
Maintain exterior hard surfaces with cold patching, sweeping, striping, and salting.
Maintain gravel surfaces by leveling, filling potholes, and managing dust control.
Water & Environmental Monitoring
Monitor flooding risks and control pooling water using pumps, pond gates, and sandbags.
Assist with additional building and grounds duties as assigned to support facility operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to work safely both independently and as part of a team.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to follow and communicate verbal and written instructions effectively.
Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in multiple positions including sitting, standing, kneeling, and bending.
Maintain a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving a pickup truck with or without a trailer.
Mechanical aptitude with hands-on maintenance experience.
Comfortable working from ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
Comfortable using a variety of hand tools.
Reliable, trustworthy, punctual, and open to coaching and feedback.
Availability to work first shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM), Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime and schedule flexibility.
