Band 4 $89,207 - $95,764 + Superannuation

Band 5 $98,778 - $111,969 + Superannuation

Band 4 – 1 position up to 7 months, 1 position up to 12 months

Band 5 – 1 position up to 12 months

Brisbane City Council are currently searching for highly motivated team members to join the Building and Construction Management Team, within Development Services.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for Building and Construction Liaison Officer roles across Band 4 and Band 5 within City Planning and Economic Development Services.

In this predominantly field‑based role, you will work directly with construction sites, stakeholders and the community to support conformance with development outcomes across Brisbane.

You’ll foster strong relationships, proactively identify and mitigate issues, and help ensure construction activity aligns with approvals while minimising impacts such as noise, dust and disruption to the surrounding community. Combining stakeholder engagement, construction and investigative skills, you will assess construction activities, gather evidence and support desirable development outcomes.

Across both band levels, responsibilities will include:

• proactively monitoring and engaging with development sites to support conformance with approvals and conditions
• building and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors, residents and relevant stakeholders
• managing and resolving customer enquiries relating to construction impacts
• conducting site inspections and preparing clear, accurate reports and documentation
• applying relevant legislation, policies and procedures contributing to continuous improvement of processes and practices.

• clear communication skills and confidence working with diverse stakeholders
• ability to interpret and apply, or quickly learn, relevant legislation and approvals

• ability to give and receive feedback contributing to a culture of performance excellence.

Difference Between a Band 4 and Band 5:

Band 4

• works semi-autonomously on allocated matters, seeking guidance for complex or sensitive issues
• provides technical input to development assessment and detailed design, assesses requests for service within agreed timeframes and service standards
• ability to engage positively with internal and external stakeholders
• ability to explore and present findings.

Band 5

• mentors Band 4 Officers
• works autonomously across complex matters, leads difficult negotiations, prepares and presents findings for use in legal proceedings, and provides accurate, consistent advice to relevant stakeholders
• contributes to policy/procedure development and continuous improvement, and provides support to senior management as needed
• ability to explore and present recommendations/solutions to construction related issues
• ability to engage positively with internal and external stakeholders and provide written and verbal instructions as required.

Both roles require a C Class Drivers License. A General Construction Induction (White Card) is desirable.
