Job Description

About the Company

Tait Systems NZ is a newly established company tasked with constructing and operating a Public Safety Network (PSN) across New Zealand. Our purpose is to significantly enhance the communications capability of Emergency Services Agencies by delivering modern, secure digital land mobile radio services, including reliable voice and messaging, and enabling better coordination across agencies.

We operate as a lean, high-performing organisation where everyone contributes to delivering complex projects on time and on budget. Innovation, a can-do attitude, and a relentless drive to improve are at the core of who we are. We're looking for people who thrive in this environment and are motivated by meaningful, nation-critical work.

About the Role

As Build Project Manager, you will play a key role in delivering the site build programme for New Zealand's Public Safety Network. Reporting to the Head of Build, you will lead and manage multiple site build projects end-to-end, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

You will work closely with internal teams including Site Acquisition and Design, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure clear expectations, robust planning, and a "no surprises" approach to delivery. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, proactive risk management, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Ensuring health and safety risks are eliminated, isolated, or minimised
  • Leading and managing multiple site build projects within the programme framework
  • Setting, managing, and maintaining clear stakeholder expectations
  • Defining and agreeing project outcomes with sponsors prior to project commencement
  • Planning and controlling project execution to achieve agreed scope, cost, time, quality, and stakeholder outcomes
  • Managing with Build Partners, other Build Project Managers and support services commissioning off site.
  • Ensuring as Build project Manager documentation is delivered as agreed with our Build Partners
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project plans, including deliverables, milestones, resources, budgets, and quality requirements
  • Identifying, managing, and escalating risks, issues, and decisions early
  • Managing change control and ensuring all changes to agreed outcomes are documented and approved
  • Ensuring effective project administration and accurate system updates
  • Maintaining a "no surprises" communication approach with all stakeholders
  • Managing work in progress (WIP) and closing projects in a timely manner
  • Conducting project close-out and post-project reviews
  • Upholding quality systems aligned with ISO 9001 accreditation
  • Ensuring health and safety risks are eliminated, isolated, or minimised
  • Collaborating closely with Site Acquisition and Design teams to support accurate and timely information flow

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have relevant project management qualifications and significant experience delivering complex build programmes, ideally within the telecommunications or technology sector.

You will also bring:

  • A relevant Project Management qualification
  • 8+ years' experience in Project Management, preferably within telecommunications or technology
  • 5+ years' experience delivering telco build projects
  • A strong understanding of Mobile / LMR networks and DMR systems
  • Proven ability to manage large volumes of concurrent site builds
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • A proactive, action-oriented mindset - you take ownership and drive solutions
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
  • The ability to self-manage while working effectively within cross-functional teams
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to contribute to team success
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support others when needed
