Description

The mission of the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC) is to improve the quality of life for all
Kentuckians by protecting our land, air, and water resources by utilizing our natural resources in an
environmentally conscientious manner. We do this by helping families connect with nature and preserving the
Commonwealth’s natural heritage; and by supporting innovative, resilient, and sustainable energy solutions
that together bring economic benefit to the commonwealth.

By joining the Division of Financial Management and Budget Branch in Franklin county, you will have the
opportunity to work with a wide variety of agencies impacting the lives of citizens within the Commonwealth.
These agencies include the Division of Forestry, Division of Water, Division of Abandoned Mine Lands, and many
other vital agencies within the Cabinet serving citizens.

Under supervision you will learn to provide financial oversight for the Cabinet, monitoring
revenues and expenditures, analyzing trends, approving documents out of eMARS, compiling agency biennial budget
requests, establishing annual operating budgets, and meeting with agency leadership to recommend fiscal
policy.

Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:

  • Budgeting, financial analysis, accounting, or applicable experience.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Analytical thinking and strong communication skills.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
One year of professional experience in statistical analysis, accounting, auditing, planning, or a related field.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Professional experience in statistical analysis, accounting, auditing, planning, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
