About the Opportunity

This is an open position within FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

The reporting location for this onsite position may be based at any of the following FirstEnergy Office locations: Akron, OH; Reading, PA; or Greensburg, PA.

The Budget & Results Analyst is responsible for managing and supporting the financial performance of FirstEnergy's Facilities portfolio, which includes more than 200 facilities, approximately 130 Facilities employees, an annual operating and capital budget exceeding $50 million, and significant spend across more than 100 suppliers supporting ongoing operations. This role provides accurate financial forecasting, reporting, analysis, and budget controls that support informed decision-making, fiscal accountability, operational efficiency, and cost optimization across the Facilities organization.

The position serves as a trusted financial advisor to Administrative Services leadership and regional operations managers, providing financial insight and support for both day-to-day operations and long-term planning initiatives.

The position reports to the Manager of Facilities Portfolio and Strategy Planning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Advise and provide financial support to Administrative Services functional leadership and regional operations managers in executing facilities-related activities and achieving financial objectives.
  • Coordinate with regional operations teams to prepare monthly budget-to-actual variance analyses and performance reports.
  • Partner closely with Administrative Services leadership to develop and maintain periodic forecasts and support Corporate Planning requirements.
  • Review, reconcile, and monitor invoices, accruals, journal entries, expenses, and budget transactions to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for cost control, operational efficiencies, and cost savings.
  • Partner with Facilities leadership to analyze spending trends and forecast future operational and capital needs.
  • Provide financial support and analysis for cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives within the Administrative Services organization.
  • Coach and educate regional administrative personnel on accounting-related activities, including general ledger coding, accrual submissions, and financial controls.
  • Create and maintain financial reports, dashboards, key performance indicators, and management reporting tools.
  • Support annual operating and capital budget development and related financial submissions.
  • Analyze operating and project costs, identify financial risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Streamline budgeting workflows and improve financial reporting processes and controls.
  • Provide financial analytics and decision-support reporting for facilities operations, strategic initiatives, and capital programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, or related financial functions.
  • Experience managing both operating and capital budgets within a large, complex organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with Power BI preferred.
  • Experience with Coupa and QlikView is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, forecasting methodologies, and financial controls.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships across multiple business functions and organizational levels.
