Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This position will assist the Budget Director and Deputy Budget Director with maintaining the department’s operating budgets. This position will also track and reconcile division’s salary rate, Salaries and Benefits and Other Personal Services appropriations, as well as provide budget impacts for advertising and hiring requests. This position is also responsible for preparation of budget amendments, review of contracts in excess of $1M, bill analyses, and ad hoc requests for budget data. This position will assist the budget office with gathering data for compiling the Legislative Budget Request, preparation of D-3As, and input into LAS/PBS as approved, as well as coordination and/or preparation of various Schedules as required by statute. The Office of Planning, Budget, and Fiscal Integrity frequently receives requests from internal and external customers for budget reports and analyses; this position is responsible for conducting research on current and historical budget data to prepare responses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in LAS/PBS, BAPS, FLAIR, Excel, and Word.
  • Knowledge of basic Florida Legislative and Florida Budget processes, principles and practices.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data.
  • Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Accountability, Communication, Empowerment, Flexibility, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years’ professional experience in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Experience with the State of Florida financial processes, LAS/PBS, BAPS, FLAIR, PALM systems, and the Legislative Budget Request (LBR) process.
  • Experience with the collection, evaluation, and analyzing of data.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
