Job Description

JioBLAST is a joint venture between Jio's RISE Worldwide and the Danish esports company BLAST ApS, officially launched in October 2025. The partnership's goal is to grow and shape the esports industry in India by creating world-class tournaments and competitive entertainment, leveraging Jio's digital ecosystem, BLAST's global esports expertise, and RISE's domestic sports experience.

Welcome to JioBLAST and the Live Production & Operations Team!

JioBLAST is looking for a Broadcast Technical Director to lead the technical delivery of our esports and live broadcast productions. You should be comfortable designing the system, getting into the rack, configuring the switcher, checking the signal, troubleshooting the network, and leading the technical team when the show goes live.

This role sits at the intersection of esports and traditional sports broadcasting. You will be responsible for designing, preparing, testing and operating the technical broadcast environment for live productions from online tournaments and studios to large-scale LAN events.

We are looking for someone who understands broadcast technology beyond individual pieces of equipment, can troubleshoot under pressure, and is comfortable moving between a professional OB/flight-pack environment and software-based production workflows such as vMix and OBS.

At JioBLAST, our company values guide everything we do:

We Make It Bold by experimenting and pushing boundaries

We Make It Together by empowering each other and solving challenges as a team

And we Make It Happen by taking ownership and delivering with precision

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical planning and delivery of JioBLAST's live esports broadcast productions, from pre-production through to event execution.
  • Design and configure broadcast systems for online, studio, LAN and large-scale live events, including signal flow, routing, switching, monitoring, intercom and communications.
  • Programme and operate professional broadcast switchers, including Sony XVS, Grass Valley K-Frame and Blackmagic ATEM, depending on the production environment.
  • Configure and manage software-based production systems including vMix and OBS, with an understanding of their integration into larger broadcast workflows.
  • Set up and manage broadcast equipment including cameras, routers, replay systems, intercom systems, multiviewers, audio systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Work closely with esports production teams on game feeds, observer systems, player feeds, spectator screens, replay workflows and broadcast integration.
  • Develop robust signal-flow and technical plans, including primary and backup paths for critical broadcast systems.
  • Lead technical testing, rehearsals and pre-event commissioning, ensuring all systems are tested and production-ready before going live.
  • Troubleshoot technical, signal, connectivity and equipment issues during live events and provide rapid, practical solutions.
  • Work closely with venues, production vendors, network providers and equipment suppliers to ensure technical requirements are delivered as planned.
  • Establish and maintain technical standards, checklists and documentation that can be replicated across JioBLAST productions.
  • Identify and implement new technologies and workflows that improve production quality, efficiency, automation and scalability.
  • Train and support directors, engineers and production teams on broadcast systems and workflows.
  • Maintain awareness of developments in broadcast and esports technology and recommend relevant solutions for JioBLAST.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in broadcast engineering, technical direction, or live production, preferably across sports, esports, entertainment, or live events.
  • Strong hands-on experience delivering large-scale live broadcasts using OB trucks, flight packs, or equivalent professional broadcast environments.
  • Practical knowledge of professional broadcast switchers such as Sony XVS, Grass Valley Kayenne/K-Frame or Blackmagic ATEM.
  • Strong working knowledge of vMix and OBS, including configuration, signal integration and live production workflows.
  • Good understanding of broadcast signal flow, routing, switching, monitoring, intercom and redundancy.
  • Experience with broadcast systems such as EVS/replay, cameras, intercom, routers, multiviewers and audio systems.
  • Experience working on esports productions, with an understanding of game capture, observer feeds, player feeds, spectator outputs and game-specific broadcast requirements.
  • Strong understanding of networking and connectivity as they relate to live esports and broadcast environments.
  • Ability to develop technical drawings, signal-flow diagrams, equipment lists and technical production plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and decisive during live events.
  • Comfortable working with production vendors and leading technical teams on-site.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays around event schedules.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
