The school now has an exciting opportunity for an experienced KS2 Teacher to join our fantastic team.

About the Role:

Cognita, in partnership with Brighton College (Singapore), is seeking an inspirational Key Stage 2 teacher to join the school from January 2027 on a full-time, fixed-term maternity cover assignment.

The Key Stage 2 teacher will play a key role within Upper Prep, with a particular focus on teaching pupils in Years 5 and 6. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, intellectually stimulating and appropriately challenging learning, aligned with the school's commitment to fostering curiosity, independent thought and academic excellence.

Beyond the classroom, the Key Stage 2 teacher will contribute fully to the pastoral, co-curricular and wider life of Brighton College (Singapore), working collaboratively with colleagues and families to support pupils' academic progress, wellbeing and personal development.

Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for the teaching of all subjects except those taught by specialist teachers, in accordance with school policies, curriculum expectations and schemes of work.
• Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging and appropriately challenging lessons, with a particular focus on Years 5 and 6.
• Use high-quality adaptive teaching to meet the needs of pupils with a wide range of starting points, including pupils with AEN and EAL needs, while providing appropriate challenge for more advanced learners.
• Undertake medium-term and short-term planning in accordance with school expectations, working closely with parallel teachers and other colleagues to ensure continuity, consistency and progression.
• Use assessment effectively to identify pupils' strengths and next steps, inform future teaching and support strong progress from individual starting points.
• Ensure monitoring, recording, assessment, feedback and reporting are undertaken accurately and in accordance with school policies.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including registers and relevant pupil information, and ensure agreed parent communication platforms are kept current.
• Take responsibility for the pastoral care, wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of pupils, fostering positive relationships and maintaining high expectations in accordance with school policies.
• Liaise closely with the DSL, AEN Lead and Prep Leadership Team regarding pupils requiring additional support or where there are concerns.
• Create a stimulating, inclusive and well-organised learning environment in which pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.
• Build positive and professional relationships with parents, providing clear and timely communication about pupils' learning, progress, achievement, wellbeing and areas for development.
• Attend parent meetings, school functions, open events and other activities as required, acting as a positive ambassador for Brighton College (Singapore).
• Contribute actively to curriculum development, year-group collaboration and the sharing of effective practice across Upper Prep.
• Contribute fully to the wider co-curricular and enrichment programme of the College, including clubs, trips, events and assemblies as required.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous professional development, collaborative practice and reflective teaching.
• Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection and undertake any other reasonable duties in support of the school's mission and values.

Position Requirements:

• Qualified teacher with proven experience of delivering high-quality teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally including Years 5 and/or 6.
• Strong knowledge and experience of successfully delivering the English National Curriculum.
• High expectations for pupil achievement, behaviour and personal development.
• Strong understanding of assessment and the ability to use assessment information effectively to inform teaching and support pupil progress.
• Ability to adapt teaching effectively to meet a wide range of learning needs, including pupils with AEN and EAL.
• Strong pastoral awareness and a clear commitment to pupil wellbeing and safeguarding.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and effective relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Commitment to collaborative working, reflective practice, professional development and the wider co-curricular life of the College.
• International school experience preferred but not essential.
• An international outlook and understanding of working in a diverse, multicultural school environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant related field, with PGCE, QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
