Job Description

We are recruiting a Bridge / Structures Designer – Transport Infrastructure Projects on behalf of our client, an international consulting and engineering group active in Romania for almost 30 years, with services in road and rail transport infrastructure, water and environment, energy, urban development, and institutional advisory. Globally, the company creates and operates intelligent infrastructure and buildings that support the transition to a low-carbon economy and sustainable territorial development.

This is a role with real technical depth, ideal for a designer who wants to follow a structure from concept through to execution. You’ll prepare technical design solutions, plans, and written parts of the project, support the technical checks, and coordinate with subcontractors, verifiers, and the Beneficiary — with field visits and monitoring during execution as part of the work. You will be part of multidisciplinary design teams (roads, bridges and structures, railways, hydrotechnical works), working to international design and contract management standards, including FIDIC.

Main Responsibilities

• Participate in the design activity to meet the deadlines set by the contract and the design schedule
• Prepare technical design solutions, technical plans, and the written parts of the project in line with the content framework of the design phase
• Request the design theme when it is not attached to the contract or when terms of reference are missing
• Make the technical documentation available to the technical checkers and participate in the technical checks
• Evaluate the quality of materials and workmanship, implement QA/QC procedures, and verify shop drawings
• Prepare bid requests for subcontractors and present them to the Department Manager
• Ensure communication with subcontractors to meet delivery deadlines and check their documentation against the terms of reference
• Make field visits within the projects and intervene when technical or schedule requirements are not met, finding remedial solutions without prejudice to the project
• Prepare external interim reports when requested and actively participate in the technical part of the solution
• Ensure relations with the Beneficiary, subcontractors, local administrations, utility owners, the external verifier, and all involved institutions
• Support interim and final approvals and notices (depending on experience and delegation)
• Hand over the project to the Beneficiary and participate in monitoring during execution
• Stay up to date with new technologies and design methods and participate in the preparation of the technical offer
• Maintain confidentiality of all information whose disclosure could harm the company and/or its employees

Requirements

• Technical / Engineering degree
• 3–5 years of experience in Romania in design and monitoring is an advantage
• Excellent computer skills in MS Office, AutoCAD, and dedicated design software
• Strong sense of responsibility, high ethical standards, teamwork, and decision-making ability
• Confident, clear, and polite verbal communication, including active listening
• Fluent Romanian; good spoken and written English is an advantage
