The Lubbock District Bridge Office is seeking a motivated professional who will bring the skills, experience, and high standards needed to help push our bridge program beyond state expectations. This position offers the opportunity to implement the latest bridge preservation and maintenance technologies while playing a key role in the continued success of our program. Implements the statewide bridge inspection program including inspection contract management. Performs and document routine, emergency, follow-up, complex and other bridge inspections. Proactively performs Federal Inspection Metric activities including: quality control review; scour and critical finding assessment and provision and oversight of plans of action. Provides technical expertise in bridge related matters including recommendations of bridge maintenance and repairs. Assists with bridge planning and programming. May train, lead, and guide the work of others. Acts as liaison between Division and Districts. Performs advanced technical fracture critical, underwater, emergency, routine and other bridge inspection activities. Drives and operates specialized bridge inspection equipment statewide. Is a qualified NBIS team leader, Work is overseen by a licensed professional engineer, requires contact with government officials, may be physically demanding and potentially hazardous. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
