We operate the hotel breakfast experience and Sky & Vine Rooftop Bar at Archer Hotel Napa.

The server makes a long-lasting impression and greatly influences the total guest experience. The position is responsible for taking orders, serving food and beverages with care and other tasks as assigned by management. The server helps clean and sanitize all work areas, as well as practicing safe food handling. The server has a strong, confident presence at the table that is derived from their comprehensive food, wine and spirits knowledge.

Your day-to-day

  • Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive, “can-do” culture that supports both colleagues and guests.
  • Approach all guest and employee interactions in a friendly, professional, and service-oriented manner.
  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival, promptly acknowledge bar and dining guests, and create a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Take food and beverage orders, including in-room dining and takeout orders, and accurately enter them into the point-of-sale system.
  • Make reservations through OpenTable and organize reservations and floor plans for the shift.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including classic and specialty cocktails, in accordance with federal, state, local, and company regulations.
  • Verify IDs and age of guests when required.
  • Carry, retrieve, and deliver food and beverages promptly to assigned areas, including kitchen and bar when applicable.
  • Present checks and handle all transactions accurately, including processing credit cards and giving correct change.
  • Handle assigned house bank, maintain proper cash handling, and ensure tips are properly reported for tax purposes.
  • Clear, clean, and reset tables and spaces throughout the shift as guests depart.
  • Maintain proper setup, cleanliness, and organization of dining areas, bar, serving stations, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain bar stock, liquor, wine, pre-batched cocktails, garnishes, and supplies; ensure attractive and functional presentation for efficient service.
  • Prepare, store, and label food items according to LodgeWorks standards, brand requirements, health code regulations, and proper rotation practices.
  • Communicate all allergy and dietary restriction information to guests and staff as needed.
  • Memorize food, cocktail, and wine lists, and be knowledgeable of menus, brands, pricing, promotions, and specials.
  • Execute daily side work, including opening and closing procedures, cleaning, and replenishing stations.
  • Take and respond to guest feedback, reporting concerns or requests to management promptly.
  • Build rapport with regular guests to create a positive and engaging atmosphere.
  • Practice safe work habits, wear required protective equipment, and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
  • Observe and monitor guest satisfaction throughout service and ensure timely, attentive support.
  • Immediately report any equipment or bar maintenance issues to management.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with LodgeWorks standards.
  • Complete any other duties as requested by management.

  • Capable of reaching overhead, utilizing both hands, leaning over, stooping and kneeling.
  • A plus: At least one year of server experience.
  • A must: A social butterfly — creating a positive experience for our guests.
