Salary: £72,160.00 - £90,200 per annum

Interview: Week commencing 20th July

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leadingpolicyand advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.  

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.  

These challenges need the bold science we support, but theywontbe solved by science alone.  

Where will I be working?

You will work within the Communications function, part ofWellcome’sCorporate Affairs directorate reporting to the Head of News and Content. This is a senior,highprofilerole working closely with executive and board-level stakeholders, leading amedium sizedteam and partnering across the organisation and with external agencies globallyon high-profile communications showcasingWellcome’smission to build healthier futures for everyone, while holding responsibility for mitigating organisational risk.

What will I be doing?

You willoversee a high-performing team responsible for brand strategy, employer brand,WellcomeTrust’s corporate communications and flagship branded partnerships.

You will developa clear and consistent global strategy that strengthens reputation,influenceand reach. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you will provide expert counsel on high-profile and sensitive issues, helping to protect and enhance organisational reputation

You will be an experienced communications leader, confident operating atasenior level andadvisingexecutives and boards. You will bring strong judgement, excellent storytellingabilityanda track recordofempoweringteams todeliver impactful communications in complex environments.

You will be collaborative,influentialand adaptable, with experience leading teams and delivering through others, and a strong understanding of how to build brands and manage reputation.

MinimumCriteria:

  •  Substantial seniorlevelexperience in corporate communications, reputation management and brand marketing within complex organisations. 

  • Proven track record of managing sensitive,highprofileis suesand leading proactive and reactive communications strategies. 

  • Experience building and evolving brands, including employer brands, and delivering impactfulbrandbuildingcampaigns based on audience insight. 

  • Proven experience advising at executive / board level on high-profile communications’ challenges, providing marcomms expertise that shifts outcomes. 

  • Substantial experience leading and developing mid-sized high-performing teams and commissioning and managing external agencies, ideally through periods of change, with demonstrable experience coordinating budgets, timelines or resources across multiple projects
