Job Description

Title: Branch Manager

Location: Waskada

Position Close Date: June 7, 2026

Basic Function:

Under general direction, has responsibility for the overall direction and co-ordination of all branch operations and activities within clearly defined policies and procedures. Organizes and directs daily activities of both the deposit and loan portfolios which may be comprised of deposits, credit, commercial, agricultural lending, mortgages and investments. Conducts performance appraisals and coaches and develops employee performance. Conducts staff meetings and oversees operational concerns. Works to maintain the Credit Union's image and profile in the community by supporting and attending community events. Initiates action to improve branch efficiency, maintains proper security procedures and adherences to established credit union policies and procedures.

Staff Development:

  • Translate Operational Goals into individual action plans for branch staff by aiding in development of individual goals in relationship to the Strategic Plan.
  • Monitor all branch lending activities to ensure credit granting is objectively and effectively evaluated, documented and secured. Review and initiate action to improve individual performance.
  • Monitor all branch deposit activities to ensure that all procedures and rules governing deposit & investment products meet regulations and guidelines. Review and initiate action to improve individual performance.
  • Work with the Human Resource Department regarding hires and terminations; with the outcome in mind of hiring motivated employees who will be dedicated to the organization.
  • Work along side the Human Resource department to implement training and development programs; identify opportunities for staff growth; manage staff performance; conduct staff meetings monthly and initiate formal and informal coaching/communication networks.

Branch and Business Development:

  • Translate credit union strategic planning goals and objectives into operational goals.
  • Monitor all branch lending activities to ensure credit granting is objectively and effectively evaluated documented and secured.
  • Monitor all branch deposit activities to ensure that all procedures and rules governing deposit & investment products meet regulations and guidelines.
  • Market, develop and service business accounts by establishing member client/non-client relationships and business contacts.
  • Prepare an annual analysis for branch capital assets and prepare branch requests annually as required.
  • Prepare and analyze reports and information for VP of Branch Operations or other senior managers, participate in campaigns and special projects, attend committee meetings and make presentations as required.
  • Interpret the branch operating procedures, lending policies and procedures, and ensure that internal controls over deposit and lending activities are monitored, in keeping with our corporate lending departments guidelines.
  • Manage the branch Marketing Budget as to support local initiatives that will support your community.

Sunrise Culture:

  • Develop branch processes that will ensure "quality" member service is provided at all times.
  • Support marketing plans and programs that will contribute to the growth and development of the branch as identified in the Credit Union business plan.
  • Contribute to a "sales and service oriented" culture by coaching employees to “Recognize Opportunities” and “Build Relationships” that will provide desired outcome.
  • Exhibits a high commitment to member client relationships by promoting the concept of relationship banking. Develop an affiliation by knowing member client and his/her business relationship with the credit union.
  • Represent the credit union in the community by participating in local business activities that will enhance the image of the organization in the trading area and promote the philosophy and principles of the co-operative movement.
