KSM Industries, Inc., an MRA member, is recruiting for a permanent, full-time Brake Press Operator, who will work 1st or 2nd Shift.

Founded by a local family in 1971, KSM Industries, Inc.’s metal fabricating services sought to meet the changing and complex demands of Wisconsin area capital goods manufacturers. KSM Industries specializes in high-quality sheet metal assemblies and weldments of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

Set up and operate press brakes to perform involved, diversified, and specialized forming and louvering of various gauge materials to close dimensional requirements.

JOB DUTIES:

Set up, adjust and operate press brakes to perform involved, diversified, and specialized forming and louvering of various gauge materials, to close BOM, sketch or assembly drawing dimensional requirements, where job knowledge, skills, setup, familiarity with dies, and operating techniques are usually acquired through on-the-job training plus long-term press brake and related machine experience.

Select, position, align, and secure forming dies, adjust ram stroke to suit gauge of material, angle or contours; program electronic back gauges to conform with dimensional specifications; determine sequence of bends on multiple press operations for work having a series of bends at various angles and in different planes.
Set up to form special shapes having single or compound radii, angle flanges, etc., requiring considerable care in ram adjustments to avoid surface irregularities.

Use scale, square, protractor, verniers, templates and direct reading equipment to set up and check work, make first piece, in-process, and last piece inspections as charted in Q/C manual; sign off BOM.

Operate fork truck, crane or other material handling equipment to move or position material; perform daily machine maintenance as prescribed. Responsible for quality of own work, requires the use of judgment to plan and perform work, make decisions as to the sequence of set ups, operations, processes and quality within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures. Work under general supervision; instructions and guidance provided on new work, variations, set up and operating difficulties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Requires knowledge of basic cold forming principles, metal fabricating methods, basic mathematics as may be acquired by a vocational or high school education. Three to five years experience are required to become familiar with press brakes, machine setups, press brake tooling, operations, materials and to attain proficiency and accuracy requirements.
