The Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology Division (BNSM) is the world’s leading provider of Atomic Force and 3D Optical Microscopes, Nano-Indentation Systems, Tribology & Mechanical Testers and Stylus Profilometers for research and industrial manufacturing applications.

We are seeking a dynamic and responsible Electrical Engineer who is eager about our growing company by joining the R&D Engineering department. In this position, the candidate will be working closely with our team in R&D and sustaining activities for Bruker’s Tribology, Stylus and Optical Metrology team. The candidate will be involved in upcoming projects and support current activities as assigned by the supervisor.

We are looking for an experienced individual that has exceptional teamwork skills, communication skills, is self-motivated, and is enthusiastic about instrumentation.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies for AC(120-480VAC);DC(12-800VDC) power, control and instrumentation including servo motor tuning and control.
  • Design analog circuit for signal conditioning (low noise amplification) and data acquisition.
  • Plan and design layout for electrical components on electrical panels, including high power panels, in new instruments.
  • Assemble, test, and debug prototypes and specials.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing to create customized special solutions for standard instruments.
  • Assist the manufacturing team in transferring New Products from engineering to Manufacturing.
  • Assist support, service, and manufacturing team members in learning new features/products as well as help identify, troubleshoot, and correct any defects.
  • Select alternate components due to shortages and/or obsolescence.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic assemblies.
  • Debug electronic circuits.
  • Create documentation using Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Prepare Engineering change orders.
  • Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Electrical circuit design.
  • Able to create schematics and build electrical assemblies.
  • Possess hands-on skill in building electrical assembly, wire harness, and cable routings.
  • Experienced in hand soldering for SMT, thru-hole or an equivalent.
  • Capable of identifying components for production release.
  • Experienced in electrical design for automated machines.
  • Electrical circuit design using design software such as Altium PCB, ACAD (DI/DO AI/AO schematics, cables), and SolidWorks(cables).
  • Possess basic circuit board design of analog and digital circuits.
  • Relevant experience with precision assembly of electrical and/or electro-mechanical devices
  • Ability to follow and understand assembly procedures, circuit schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Recommend alternate electronic components due to shortages, obsolescent, long lead times
  • ADDED CONSIDERATION:

  • Experienced in regulatory compliance such as CE, UKCA, NRTL, NFPA79, SEMI S2, S8.
  • Experienced in high-power electrical design.
  • Experienced in designing scientific or metrology instruments.
  • Experienced in electrical design for automated machinery.
  • Experienced in debugging digital and analog systems.
  • Basic Knowledge of communication interfaces (RS-232, RS-485, SMBus, I2C, USB, TCP/IP).
  • Technical writing skills.
  • EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience
  • B.Sc, M.Sc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Physic
