Box Truck Driver / Warehouse Associate

Job Summary

OPEX is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Box Truck Driver / Warehouse Associate to transport materials, products, and equipment between local company buildings and nearby locations while supporting warehouse operations when not on the road. Deliveries are typically local and are usually within approximately 3 hours. This position is responsible for operating a box truck safely, completing deliveries and pickups on schedule, loading and unloading freight, maintaining accurate delivery documentation, and assisting with general warehouse duties such as receiving, stocking, picking, packing, staging, inventory movement, and keeping the warehouse organized.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a company box truck for local deliveries between company buildings and nearby locations.
  • Complete scheduled local deliveries and pickups accurately, on time.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Load, unload, and secure products using proper material-handling practices, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, straps, and load bars as needed.
  • Verify shipment contents against bills of lading, packing slips, manifests, or delivery paperwork.
  • Obtain required signatures, proof of delivery, and other documentation at customer or vendor locations.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, dispatch, supervisors, and warehouse team members.
  • Follow all applicable traffic laws, company safety procedures, and DOT requirements where applicable.
  • Assist in the warehouse when not driving, including receiving, stocking, picking, packing, staging, labeling, cycle counting, and inventory movement.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely, if trained and authorized.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe truck and warehouse work area.
  • Support shipping, receiving, and general warehouse tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean and acceptable driving record.
  • Previous box truck, delivery, route driving, warehouse, shipping, receiving, or material-handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate a box truck and follow assigned routes.
  • Ability to read and understand delivery paperwork, shipping documents, and basic inventory information.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and time-management skills.
  • Professional communication and customer service skills.
  • Forklift, pallet jack, lift gate, or warehouse management system experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass any required background check, motor vehicle record review, drug screen, or physical exam required by company policy or applicable regulation.

Physical/Work Environments

  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching overhead, and reaching forward throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely maneuver materials, pallets, and freight in warehouses and loading dock environments.
  • Employee may be required to work overtime, extended shifts, or weekends based on business demands.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment after appropriate training.

Work Environment and Schedule

This position requires a combination of local driving and warehouse work. Deliveries are generally between company buildings or nearby locations and are usually within 3 hours. The employee may work in trucks, loading docks, warehouses, customer sites, and outdoor conditions depending on delivery schedules and business needs. Schedule may vary based on delivery needs, route assignments, and warehouse workload.

The hourly rate for this position is $20.00-$21.00, based on experience. If you have a CDL License (B), we can go to $22.00-$24.00 per hour.
