Job Description

The Library is dedicated to promoting literacy, learning, and cultural enrichment through its core areas: reading, spaces and programs, reference and instruction, and special collections. With 25 branches across the city, the Library serves as a civic hub providing access to WiFi, citizenship information, computer services, and a diverse range of collections. Programs include storytimes, technology classes, arts and crafts, and educational support for all ages. The Library is committed to inclusivity, offering equal access to all individuals regardless of background, and is actively modernizing its facilities to enhance community engagement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities: - Sorting, verifying, shifting, and checking in materials. - Shelving materials in appropriate locations. - Retrieving and routing items from shelves as needed. - Answering basic questions and referring to other staff as appropriate. - Operating equipment such as photocopiers, microfilm readers, printers, and scanners. - Performing other related duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate for this Job

Job Requirements: - Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. - Must be at least 14 years old. - Residency: Must be a resident of the City of Boston upon the first day of hire. - CORI: Must successfully clear a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check with the City of Boston.
