Job Description

Every year the Parks Department brings engaging programs and events to parks throughout the City of Boston. Don't miss out on these free, fun events! From ParkARTS performing arts like concerts and puppet shows, to participatory programming like arts and crafts workshops, to special events and festivals—Boston's parks are full of activity!

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities: - Assist with ParkARTS cultural programming throughout the Boston Parks system, including Mayor Wu’s Neighborhood Concert Series, Movie Nights (where applicable), Arts and Craft workshops, and other summer events. - Set up for events by lifting equipment such as chairs, tables, and tents. - Staff cultural events, ensuring smooth operations and representing the Boston Parks Department. - Take photos or videos of events, capturing key moments and highlights. - Interact with event attendees to ensure they are enjoying themselves and address any questions or concerns. - Assist in the promotion of events by helping distribute flyers, posting on social media, and promoting the events. - Assist arts instructors with teaching art to youth at various events and workshops. - Attend puppet shows and events, promoting ParkARTS programming such as movie nights and concerts. - Distribute flyers to advertise upcoming community meetings, design and construction projects, and special events. - Help with set-up and break-down for special events hosted by the Parks Department. - Assist Outreach Coordinator, Director of External Affairs and Marketing, and Program Managers with promotional efforts for events and initiatives on an as-needed basis. - Additional duties and assignments as required by the department.

The Ideal Candidate for this Job

Ideal Candidate : - Passionate about arts and culture: A strong interest in the arts, including visual arts, music, and community programming. - Physically active and able to assist with event set-up: Ability to lift equipment such as chairs, tables, and tents, and assist with the logistical aspects of event preparation and breakdown. - Strong communication skills: Capable of engaging with attendees and interacting positively with youth and community members during events. - Team-oriented: Able to collaborate with a diverse group of team members, including event coordinators, instructors, and staff. - Flexible schedule: Willingness to work on weekends or evenings for events like concerts, movie nights, and workshops. - Creative and enthusiastic: Energetic and motivated to contribute to promoting arts events and programs through activities such as photography, distributing flyers, and engaging on social media. - Responsible and organized: Capable of handling various tasks, including event promotion, assisting instructors, and supporting outreach efforts. - Experience or interest in teaching or arts education: Prior experience in arts education or an eagerness to assist with teaching activities for children and youth. - Adaptability: Ability to manage different responsibilities and adjust to the needs of each event or project. Social media savvy (optional): Experience or interest in promoting events through social media platforms.
