Mission and Program Overview: The Youth Liaison at Council President Ruthzee Louijeune's office empowers Boston's young people by providing hands-on experience in city government while helping them develop crucial professional skills. This program serves as a bridge between city leadership and Boston's youth, ensuring their voices are heard in local government and preparing the next generation of civic leaders. Program Model: Direct mentorship under office staff Training in city services Exposure to city council operations and legislative processes Active participation in community outreach initiatives Core Responsibilities: Constituent Services: Answering and directing constituent calls Learning to track and follow up on constituent concerns Maintaining organized records of constituent interactions Supporting constituent case management Social Media and Communications: Assisting with social media content creation Documenting community events and council activities Supporting the development of newsletters and updates Learning effective public communication strategies Event Planning and Support: Helping organize community meetings and events Supporting logistics for constituent meet-and-greets Assisting with event promotion and outreach Participating in event setup and management Professional Development: Training in office procedures and protocols Developing public speaking and presentation skills Enhancing professional writing and communication abilities Strengthening time management and organizational skills

The Ideal Candidate for this Job

Current undergraduate or graduate student Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to conduct independent research and synthesize information. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated interest in public service, civic engagement, or government.
