Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Intermediate Bookkeeper whose primary focus will be accurate transaction entry and account reconciliation. This role goes beyond simple data entry - the ideal candidate understands how transactions flow through QuickBooks, how balance sheet and income statement accounts work, and can identify when something doesn't look correct.

This position is well-suited to someone who enjoys structured, process-driven work while also applying critical thinking and initiative when reviewing financial data.

Key Responsibilities

• Enter and review transactions in QuickBooks accurately and efficiently

• Distinguish between balance sheet and income statement accounts and understand how transactions impact each

• Reconcile bank, credit card, and other financial accounts on a regular basis

• Review balance sheet accounts for reasonableness and accuracy

• Investigate discrepancies to determine where and why they occurred

• Research long-outstanding or uncleared transactions and recommend appropriate actions

• Identify potential issues such as duplicate or misposted transactions

• Use accounting tools and reports (registers, prior periods, audit trails, etc.) to research questions before escalating

• Propose practical, time-efficient solutions to correct posting issues

• Communicate clearly with team members regarding findings and resolutions

Preferred (Not Required)

• Familiarity with payroll and payroll taxes

• Understanding of how payroll appears on financial statements
• Training can be provided for someone who learns quickly and understands accounting concepts.

Required Skills & Experience

• Prior bookkeeping or accounting data-entry experience

• Working knowledge of QuickBooks

• Foundational understanding of accounting principles

• Ability to recognize when balances or transactions do not look correct

• Strong attention to detail while maintaining efficiency and speed

• Ability to learn quickly and apply feedback

• Clear written and verbal communication skills

• Comfortable working independently and exercising judgment before escalating questions
• Open to constructive feedback and committed to continuous improvement
