Job Description

For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.
The Early Head Start Family Child Care Program is available through the Family Child Care Network (Family Child Care Provider Homes). All Family Child Care Homes provide free quality services to young children and to their families’ ages 6 weeks to 3 years of age. Families are respected as partners in the early care and education process with their children. The Family Child Care Providers’ homes are nurturing learning environments that promote children’s cognitive, social, emotional, language literacy, and physical development. Providers are caring and competent educators who guide the children ‘s learning experiences by exposing them to a variety of developmentally appropriate Montessori activities. Providers strives to actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program, as a key to a child’s robust development as well as to offer the learning experiences tailored to the changing needs and abilities of children.
STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager/Director, the Bookkeeper’s responsibilities include but not limited to prepare petty cash, submit check requests, track budget, on weekly basis prepare bank deposit slips/receipts, and disability insurance report.
• Maintains all records related to petty cash and the allocation of petty cash funds, including the replenishment of petty cash.
• Enters and maintains cash receipts and disbursement ledgers; summarizes as requested.
• Prepares and submits all requests for payments (check requests) in a timely and efficient manner.
• Prepares ACD-1 reports.
• Prepares various End- Of- Month reports; disability insurance reports and all related forms/paperwork.
• Prepares all paperwork related to health insurance, retirement, and Welfare Fund reports for staff where applicable.
• Assists Management in the maintenance, ordering/purchasing and inventory of office supplies and other center-related items or supplies/equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or Accounting preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a full charge bookkeeper with proof of fiscal responsibilities.
• Bilingual Spanish/English speaking preferred.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, & crawling. occasional running.
• Able to travel for inter-borough training, meetings, and escorting parents to meetings.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
