Job Description

Role Brief

The Australian Accountant / Bookkeeper will support Juce Advisory across a portfolio of Australian clients, providing hands-on accounting, bookkeeping and compliance preparation support within a multi-client accounting practice environment.

The role combines core bookkeeping and accounting responsibilities with a strong analytical component. Beyond completing established processes, the successful candidate will be expected to investigate discrepancies, identify when something does not look right, troubleshoot issues, and provide reliable explanations or analysis back to the Juce team.

This is a primarily back-office role, with client ly releva communication managed by the onshore Juce team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Juce team, particularly Lauren for bookkeeping-related activities, while supporting the broader CFO advisory work of the business

Key Role Deliverables

  • Support bookkeeping and accounting activities across multiple Australian client portfolios.
  • Complete regular transaction processing and account reconciliations.
  • Support fortnightly payroll processing and related bookkeeping activities.
  • Prepare accounting and compliance work for review, including BAS and IAS.
  • Assist with preparation of income tax returns and FBT work where required.
  • Work across Xero-based client files within an Australian accounting practice environment.
  • Investigate discrepancies, unreconciled items and unusual financial movements.
  • Perform financial analysis, deep dives and problem-solving where required.
  • Use Excel and available AI tools to support analysis, troubleshooting and efficiency.
  • Self-review work and provide reliable explanations when figures or transactions do not reconcile.
  • Support the Juce team with information and analysis required for CFO advisory engagements.
  • Work across assigned clients while collaborating with relevant Juce delivery/accounting team members.
  • Maintain accurate, organised and review-ready accounting records.
  • Work independently within established processes while escalating or questioning items that require further investigation.

Education Requirement

Qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline preferred.

Relevant Australian accounting practice experience and demonstrated practical capability will be highly regarded.

Minimum Years of Experience in similar role

4-5+ years of relevant Australian accounting and/or bookkeeping experience preferred, ideally within an accounting or bookkeeping practice supporting multiple Australian clients.

Depth of practical experience and capability will be considered alongside total years of experience, particularly for candidates demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Technical System Experience

  • Xero – strong hands-on experience required.
  • Xero Practice Manager – familiarity preferred.
  • Xero Tax – familiarity advantageous.
  • Microsoft Excel – strong working capability, particularly for analysis, reconciliations and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using AI tools to support analysis, problem-solving or work efficiency is advantageous.
  • Experience working within cloud-based accounting and practice-management environments.

Must Have Skills / Experience

  • Strong hands-on Australian accounting and/or bookkeeping experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple Australian clients, ideally within an accounting or bookkeeping practice.
  • Strong practical experience using Xero.
  • Demonstrated experience with reconciliations and general bookkeeping/accounting activities.
  • Experience preparing BAS and IAS work for review.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies and explain why financial information may not reconcile.
  • Strong Excel capability with confidence analysing financial information.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-review work before submission.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the Juce team.
  • Strong analytical mindset - not solely reliant on following established bookkeeping processes.
  • Ability to provide reliable financial analysis and support information used within Juce's CFO advisory work.
