A unique opportunity has arisen for a meticulous, autonomous, and proactive part-time Bookkeeper to support two distinct businesses operating from the same home office in Sandton: an Agri-business and a Logistics division. This is a part-time, flexible, independent contracting role requiring 6 hours per month to start on-site at the Sandton office, with potential to increase as the businesses grow.

We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper who is highly organized, adaptable, and capable of jumping right into the driver’s seat. Currently, the administration is entirely manual, so we need a seasoned professional who can take control, clean up the books, and build automated systems from scratch. This role is perfect for someone looking for a premium, low-hour commitment where your high-level expertise will directly shape the financial foundation of two growing businesses.

While initial on-site work is required to set up the systems and align with the Founder, there is flexibility to discuss remote options for the right candidate once everything is running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • System Setup & Implementation: Take charge of migrating the current manual systems onto Sage. Establish clean, robust financial record-keeping structures from scratch.

  • Monthly Processing: Handle end-of-month capturing on Sage, accurate expense allocation, and data migration.

  • Invoicing & Accounts Receivable: Manage sales invoicing and proactively monitor outstanding receivables across both divisions.

  • Strategic Partnering: Provide ad-hoc financial oversight and support to the Founder/MD to ensure streamlined financial management.


Requirements


  • Experience: Proven track record as a Bookkeeper, with specific experience in setting up financial systems from scratch. Exposure to the Agriculture or Logistics sectors is a distinct advantage.

  • Qualifications: A diploma or degree in a finance-related field is highly advantageous.

  • Software Proficiency:  Open to any leading cloud accounting platform (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, etc.). As the business is currently manual, you will have the autonomy to recommend, select, and implement the system you believe is best suited for these two industries.

  • Attributes: You must be a true self-starter—someone who is adaptable, highly organized, and capable of bringing order to manual systems without needing hand-holding.

  • Availability: Ability to commit to one 6 hour session per month on-site at the Sandton home office.
