Job Description


Red Ember Recruitment is seeking to appoint a detail-oriented and deadline-driven Bookkeeper to support the finance department through accurate financial processing, reconciliation’s, banking administration, and financial record management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing supplier and banking transactions, managing reconciliation’s, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial governance standards. This role requires strong bookkeeping experience, high attention to detail, and proficiency in Sage Evolution within a fast-paced operational environment.

Cash-book, Credit Card & Bank Reconciliation’s

  • Process all supplier transactions within the Bank Manager module on Sage Evolution.

  • Process and reconcile all credit card and petty cash transactions monthly.

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliation’s as part of the month-end close process.

  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies timeously.

  • Ensure accurate allocation and recording of all financial transactions.

COD & Weekly Payment Administration

  • Manage COD (Cash on Delivery) supplier accounts.

  • Prepare and process weekly payment and travel submissions.

  • Distribute Proof of Payments (POPs) to suppliers under management.

  • Maintain accurate payment records and supporting documentation.

Fixed Assets Register Administration

  • Maintain and update the Fixed Assets Register monthly.

  • Record all asset additions, transfers, and disposals accurately.

  • Process monthly depreciation journals in Sage Evolution.

    Ensure supporting documentation for all fixed assets is maintained.

Banking Administration

  • Load approved supplier reconciliation’s onto the FNB online banking platform for payment.

  • Maintain beneficiary records on the FNB banking platform.

  • Perform ad hoc banking and payment-related tasks as required.

  • Administer company credit cards, including monitoring, reconciliation’s, and support.

Insurance Administration

  • Maintain and update insurance schedules and asset listings, including laptops and company equipment.

  • Assist with insurance claims and supporting documentation.

  • Ensure insurance records remain accurate and up to date.

General Financial Administration

  • Convert and distribute monthly credit card statements to cardholders in the required format.

  • Maintain proper electronic filing and document management on SharePoint.

  • Assist with finance-related administrative duties and ad hoc projects.

  • Support the finance team during month-end and audit processes.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to company financial policies, procedures, and controls.

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.

  • Ensure all financial records are accurate, complete, and audit ready.


Requirements


  • Certificate in Bookkeeping or National Diploma in Finance or Accounting.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a similar bookkeeping role.

  • Proven experience working on Sage Evolution.

  • Experience using online banking platforms, particularly FNB, will be advantageous.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong reconciliation and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial controls.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
