Job Description


Red Ember Recruitment is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Bookkeeper
with a background in an accounting or auditing firm for our client in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day bookkeeping functions, and supporting the preparation of financial reports for a portfolio of clients.


Requirements


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple clients

  • Process journals, invoices, receipts, and payments

  • Perform bank, supplier, and general ledger reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and trial balances

  • Assist with VAT returns, payroll processing, and statutory submissions

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies

  • Liaise with auditors, clients, and internal stakeholders

  • Maintain organised financial filing systems (digital and physical)

  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records


Minimum Requirements


Education:


  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field


Experience:


  • Minimum 2–4 years’ bookkeeping experience within an
    accounting or audit firm
    (essential)

  • Experience handling multiple client accounts preferred
