renewable energy business
is seeking a
Bookkeeper
to join their finance team. This is a
full-time, office-based role
ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who is eager to take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping operations and grow within the finance function.
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the successful candidate will work closely with them, and will assist with financial reporting, statutory compliance, and the management of financial transactions across multiple entities.
Accurately maintain records of financial transactions by posting transactions, ensuring daily compliance with legal requirements.
Adhere to existing policies and procedures.
Conduct stock management, control inventory movement, invoicing, and payment of creditors.
Perform a comprehensive stock-take at least once a month and reconcile to the general ledger prior to submitting monthly management reports.
Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
Balance subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
Balance the general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling accounts.
Maintain historical records by filing documents.
Prepare financial reports and monthly management reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising account information and trends.
Prepare monthly management reports based on reconciled trial balance, including:
Statement of Income and Expenditure
Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet)
Cash Flow Statement with explanatory notes of moves against budgets
Debtors and Creditors Age Analysis
Comply with statutory requirements by studying regulations, enforcing adherence, filing reports, and advising management on necessary actions.
Prepare bi-monthly VAT returns and annual working papers for auditors.
Contribute to overall business success through coordinated alignment with business operations.
Matric with Accounting HG, final mark not less than a B
Completed Accounting Diploma (minimum 24 months) from an accredited institution, final mark not less than an A
OR
Completed Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, final mark not less than an A
Computer literate
Familiar with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Minimum 2 years' accounting experience in a stock-bearing enterprise
Ability to work under continuous pressure in a high-pressure environment.
