Job Description

BOM Coordinator – Modular R&D (Hardware / Critical Infrastructure)

Location: Austin, TX (100% On-Site)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $155,000 – $183,000 / year + Equity

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-driven BOM Coordinator to join a fast-scaling Modular R&D team building prefabricated data center units for gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure.

This is a high-visibility data-accuracy and cross-functional coordination role. You will own and maintain the single source of truth for every part, quantity, and revision across mechanical, structural, and electrical scopes as our designs move rapidly from early prototypes to fleet production. If you thrive on keeping multi-thousand-line Bills of Materials accurate in fast-paced, iterative engineering environments, this seat offers full operational autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • BOM Ownership & Governance: Own the multi-thousand-line Bill of Materials (BOM) for modular data center products across structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
  • Engineering Change Control: Drive formal change management (ECOs, ECNs, redline-to-release) so design revisions land in purchasing and manufacturing in days with zero orphaned parts or stale quantities.
  • Reconciliation & Auditing: Reconcile engineering BOMs against vendor quotes, purchase orders (POs), and received shop-floor material, investigating every discrepancy to its root cause.
  • Supply Chain & Risk Flagging: Identify long-lead and single-source items the moment they enter the BOM to prevent supply chain bottlenecks before they impact production schedules.
  • Cross-Team Alignment: Sit directly between design engineers, procurement teams, and manufacturing floor leads, converting complex CAD drawings into orderable part numbers.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: 2 to 6 years of hands-on experience in BOM management, materials coordination, configuration control, or engineering change administration.
  • Industry Background: Direct exposure to manufacturing, industrial fabrication, modular/prefabricated construction, electrical switchgear/skids, or MEP contracting.
  • Tooling Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience operating inside enterprise ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) or PLM platforms (e.g., Arena, Windchill, Teamcenter), alongside advanced Excel modeling capabilities.
  • Change Discipline: Proven track record managing complex engineering change orders (ECOs/ECNs) without letting revision histories fork or stall.

Preferred Qualifications & Keywords

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Mechanical/Electrical Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Systems & Tools: Hands-on experience with Arena PLM, NetSuite ERP, Teamcenter, Bluebeam, and advanced spreadsheet tools.
  • Domain Exposure: Familiarity with data center hardware, modular buildings, power distribution skids, or complex mechanical assembly environments.
