Boilermaker (Plant)-266907

UGL is seeking an experienced and safety‑driven Boilermaker to join our high‑performing team. In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for the fabrication, repair and refurbishment of a wide range of metal structures and mobile plant equipment. You’ll work with quality standards, engineering drawings and established procedures while contributing to a safe and productive work environment.

About the Role

As a Boilermaker with UGL, you will produce high‑quality fabricated metal products, structures, frames, plate assemblies, vessels, and pipework. You will work with ferrous and non‑ferrous metals and be confident using a range of welding, thermal cutting and mechanical tools.

This role also includes supporting maintenance and refurbishment activities on mobile plant equipment and performing structural repairs on trailers and similar assets.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Duties

  • Carry out boilermaking and fabrication work to high safety and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, specifications and weld procedures.
  • Prepare metal components by gouging, beveling, grinding or filing.
  • Cut metal using oxy, thermal cutting or approved mechanical tools.
  • Assemble components, including tack‑welding and use of jigs.
  • Complete structural repairs to trailers and various mobile plant equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and refurbishment tasks on mobile plant equipment.
  • Work safely at heights, perform hot works, and operate or assist in MEWP activities.
  • Use a range of tools: drills, grinders, clamps, benders and lifting equipment.

Safety

  • Follow all company and site safety procedures, ensuring safe work at all times.
  • Attend daily pre‑starts and use JSA, risk assessments and pre‑work checklists.
  • Report hazards, incidents and unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Use all required PPE correctly.
  • Participate in ongoing safety training and contribute to continuous improvement.

General

  • Complete all site inductions and training as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workspace.
  • Proactively follow UGL processes and expected behaviours.
  • Seek improvements in efficiency, processes and quality.
  • Represent UGL professionally in both attitude and presentation.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum 2 year experience in a similar role on a construction or industrial site.
  • Boilermaker trade certificate
  • Experience in mobile plant equipment maintenance and refurbishment
  • Construction White Card
  • Current full driver’s licence
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency (unrestricted working rights).
  • Strong safety focus with a good track record.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and weld procedures.

Desirable

  • Elevated Work Platform (EWP) ticket.
  • Telehandler ticket.
  • Confined space entry ticket.
  • Working at heights ticket.
  • Operator tickets/licences (preferred but not essential).
