Description

Do you like working with your hands and are able to lift up to 80 pounds? Do you have experience in the operation
of stationary boilers as well as knowledge of related mechanical equipment? If you answered YES, then Western
State Hospital (WSH) may be the place for you! With a 172-year history in the Hopkinsville community, WSH is a
State acute-care, adult psychiatric facility, accredited by the Joint Commission, and is on the National
Register of Historic Places. WSH provides inpatient psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adults from 34
counties of Ky who have severe mental illness.

We are seeking a Boiler Operator to join our team in the Maintenance Department to assist in the operation of
Boilers and minor maintenance work. This position will be for 2nd shift.

A COVID19 vaccination is recommended for this position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the operation of boilers, learns to observe all necessary gauges, learns to make necessary
    adjustments to maintain constant pressures and water level in boilers.
  • Learns to service emergency generators and records operation.
  • Assists in minor maintenance work in the
    hospital on doors, windows, locks, plumbing, and electrical problems.
  • Assists in testing chemicals in boiler water, heating and cooling water, water softeners, cooling towers and
    records results.
  • Other duties as assigned.
