Job Description

Salary: £14.13 - £14.82 per hour

Hours per week: Casual zero hours

The council is looking for experienced staff to support the sensitive task of collecting and transporting loved ones.

When a death occurs in the community a number of services are involved. One such service is provided by the council which involves collecting a patient and ensuring families are informed of how loved ones are to be cared for until collected by a funeral director from a council facility or hospital.

In this crucial role, you will assist with collection of patients from a range of scenarios and locations, which sometimes may be distressing, from the North of the County. Further responsibilities include supporting with administration and the processing of the deceased in line with strict legislation and follow process for chain of custody, paperwork and deceased identification.

You will also be required to drive a council vehicle and maintain it in a clean and professional manner. Chippenham is the operational centre for this role.

Full training and support will be provided in addition to Personal Protective Equipment.

We are looking for a caring and empathetic candidate with experience of providing advice and guidance in a stressful environment. You will take pride in your appearance ensuring that you are always professional. You will need to have a good level of physical fitness, as the role can involve heavy lifting and You will need to have a valid driver’s licence, good paperwork skills and a caring nature.

As a casual worker, you'll have no fixed hours and will work on an as-needed basis, depending on Wiltshire Council's requirements and your availability. You are not obligated to be available, and the Council is not obliged to offer you work.
