CIVIL SERVICE TITLE: Supervisor Electrician

*JOB DESCRIPTION
Supervises electricians and other assigned personnel in the installation, repair, replacement and maintenance of apparatus, equipment and electric wiring circuits for buildings, bridges, and elevated structures and/or traffic control systems according to the provisions of applicable codes and regulations; must be able to work on heights and confined spaces, may be required to work weekends and long hours, perform related work. Rotate between Bridge Repair HRB and BQR locations within the Bronx and Brooklyn.

Operates, inspects, maintains, repairs, tests, and adjusts equipment such as generators, pumps, transformers electric motors, bearings, switchboards, controllers, compressors, meters, gauges, valves, fittings, converters, controls, circuit breakers etc. Oils, cleans, and makes minor repairs to this equipment.

Responsible for 24/7 deployment of electricians to support emergency operational problems on any of the 23 Movable Bridges City wide. Troubleshoot & reading codes for PLC programming for possible faults during breakdowns. Repairs in timely manner & put bridge back in service for vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, and marine traffic.

*PREFERRED SKILLS
Ability to perform inspections in all weather conditions which will include nights and weekends. Experienced on High and Low Bridges operations & their components maintenance for a minimum of 5 yrs.

Preference will be given to candidate who possess a Class B Commercial Driver License or Learner’s Permit valid in the state of New York, without restrictions. Employees must maintain the Class B Commercial Driver License during their employment in this position.

SUPERVISOR ELECTRICIAN - 91769

Qualifications

1. Six years of full-time satisfactory experience as an electrician acquired within the last fifteen years, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
2. At least four years of experience as described in "1" above, plus sufficient satisfactory experience as an electrician's helper or apprentice electrician or training in the electrical field acquired in an approved trade, technical or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of the remaining experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of such helper experience, apprentice training or training in the electrical field. However, all candidates must have had at least one year of full-time satisfactory experience as a supervising electrician acquired within the last fifteen years.
License Requirements
A Motor Vehicle Driver license valid in the State of New York.
All licenses must be maintained for the duration of employment.
