Senior BMS Engineer – Data Centre Project, Milan
Location: Milan, Italy

If you’re the kind of engineer who takes pride in turning a functional spec into something that actually works, this might be worth your time.

We’re delivering a major data centre project in Milan. It’s complex, fast‑moving, and the sort of job where “good enough” isn’t good enough. That’s why we’re looking for a Senior BMS Engineer who knows how to run the technical side of a project without being micromanaged — because you won’t be.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll own the Tier 2 engineering and design submittals. Not just contributing — owning them. That typically covers:

  • Tier 2 Submittals
  • I/O data point lists
  • Equipment schedules and schematics
  • Device and wiring layouts (including panel design interlocks)
  • Functional specifications
  • Demonstration and acceptance documentation
  • O&M documentation

You’ll ensure mechanical equipment submittals align with project specs, and you’ll take functional specs and turn them into operational systems. You’ll also witness off‑site testing, support change control, and make sure every design change is captured and auditable.

During the Build, You’ll Also:

  • Manage your subcontractor team day‑to‑day
  • Stay on top of programme, deliveries, engineering issues, quality and safety
  • Attend whiteboard meetings and weekly progress reviews
  • Ensure safety and training remain front and centre
  • Participate in W1, W2 and W3 site walkdowns

When It’s Time to Wrap Up:

  • Make sure testing and commissioning align with the Quality Plan
  • Certify all live systems ahead of handover
  • Demonstrate systems to the client and district surveyor
  • Deliver O&M manuals and record drawings
  • Support demobilisation and handover
  • Produce a detailed project close‑out report

A Few Other Things You’ll Be Expected To Do:

  • Keep an accurate site/daybook
  • Attend weekly project meetings
  • Continue developing your technical skills
  • Suggest improvements — we actually listen
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the full project team
  • Protect information and follow the company ISMS
  • And, occasionally, deal with things that fall under “other duties as reasonably required”

Who This Role Suits
If you like clarity, autonomy, and doing things properly, you’ll fit in. If you prefer endless committees, “circling back”, and theoretical engineering, you probably won’t.

You’ll already be operating at a senior engineering level on BMS‑heavy projects, ideally in data centres, high‑tech buildings or similarly complex environments. You’ll be technically strong, able to coordinate multiple moving parts, and confident managing specialist subcontractors.

Special consideration will be given to candidates belonging to protected categories under L. 68/99
