Blowmold Supervisor

The Blowmold Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of the Blowmold Department to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of high-quality plastic containers that support Kinpak's manufacturing operations. This position supervises production employees, coordinates machine setups and changeovers, monitors production performance, ensures compliance with quality and safety standards, and promotes continuous improvement throughout the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervise and lead Blowmold Technicians, Operators, Packers, Material Handlers, and other assigned personnel.
• Schedule and assign daily work to meet production goals and customer demand.
• Monitor production performance, machine efficiencies, downtime, scrap, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Ensure all blow molding equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate mold changes, tooling installations, machine startups, and process adjustments.
• Troubleshoot equipment, process, and quality issues while working closely with Maintenance and Process Engineering.
• Verify that bottles meet all quality specifications including weight, dimensions, appearance, wall thickness, and performance requirements.
• Review production schedules and ensure adequate staffing for each shift.
• Monitor resin usage and minimize material waste.
• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and communicate equipment concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate production reports, shift logs, downtime records, scrap reports, and labor records.
• Train, coach, and develop employees on equipment operation, quality standards, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong understanding of blow molding processes and manufacturing operations.
• Ability to analyze production data and implement process improvements.
• Ability to motivate, coach, and develop employees.
• Excellent decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and manufacturing best practices.
• Ability to read production schedules, specifications, and technical documents.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with heat, noise, moving machinery, and forklift traffic.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Schedule
• Full-time position.
• Must be willing to work any shift, weekends, holidays, overtime, and respond to production emergencies as needed.

• Conduct routine safety inspections and investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Lead shift meetings and communicate production priorities and departmental objectives.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and lower operating costs.
• Work closely with Quality Control, Warehouse, Production, Maintenance, and Planning departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the Blowmold Department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or technical training in Plastics Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering preferred or may consider formal training and experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of blow molding manufacturing experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with extrusion blow molding equipment, molds, auxiliary equipment, and resin handling systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of plastic processing, quality standards, and production scheduling.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software/ERP systems.
