Heavy Equipment Technician

Location: 1351 Bloomington Rd E, Richmond Hill, Ontario
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Reporting To: Site Manager & Equipment Manager
Start Date: Immediately
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 4:30pm
Pay Rate: $38-$40 per hour

The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy equipment at compost sites while following safety protocols. Duties include but are not limited to, coordinating repairs, operating a service truck, managing subcontractors, and supporting preventative maintenance. Requires outdoor work and strong independent organizational skills.

Responsibilities:
In the position of Heavy Equipment Technician your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Maintain and repair site equipment to ensure minimal downtime.
• Repair and service any and all equipment on site from loaders, excavators, skid steers, screening plants, grinders, pumps, generators, etc.
• Work daily with the site operations management to coordinate downtime of equipment for repairs and service.
• Operate and maintain company's heavy equipment service truck while on the job site.
• Manage and co-ordinate subcontracted work and equipment rentals.
• Assist in improving the Preventative Maintenance program within the compost group.
• Will be required to conduct service repairs3 outdoors.
• Will be required to travel to other compost yard when need to assist in repairs.
• Must have strong organizational skills to work independently.

Requirements:
• Successful candidates will ideally possess a Heavy Equipment Technician Licence.
• You will have the ability to diagnose and repair electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Basic computer knowledge as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills are an asset for this position.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced team-oriented environment is key in this position.
• Must be flexible with your working schedule as you may be required to work weekends and holidays to perform repairs and services.
• Must have valid 'G' Driver's Licence with a clean record.
• Must own full set of mechanical tools.
