The BLE Underwriting Officer supports SouthState Bank’s enterprise wide small-business credit underwriting and processing program, Business Lending Express. The BLE Program provides an expedited loan program, allowing the bank to efficiently provide loans to Small to Medium Businesses. In the BLE Underwriting Officer role, He/She is responsible for completing the underwriting, decisioning and processing of business loan applications. During the underwriting process, the Underwriting Officer is responsible for evaluating business and personal credit reports, reviewing and assessing the proposed collateral, completing a global cash flow analysis, determining whether a loan fits within BLE Policy parameters for approval or if there are adequate factors to mitigate exceptions to policy for approval. If the proposed loan is within the Underwriting Officer’s loan authority, He/She will make the approval decision on the request. Post approval, the Underwriting Officer is responsible for ensuring that all documents and information required for closing is provided by the Loan Officer and then working with the Centralized Closing Team to have loan documents completed and provided to the loan officer for closing. During the entire process, the BLE Underwriting Officer acts as a resource and support member to the loan officers utilizing the BLE Program, providing World Class Service to our customers (Loan Officers), allowing them to provide World Class Service to their customers.
