Job Description: Material Handler II

Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor

The Material Handler II role at Bird Johnson, based in our Wrentham, MA facility, involves the effective handling and movement of materials to support manufacturing and meet customer needs. This role ensures accurate inventory tracking, material distribution, and collaboration with various departments to maintain efficient operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Receive, inspect, and record incoming shipments to ensure accuracy.
• Perform quality checks on materials and report discrepancies or damages.
• Efficiently store, organize, and label materials in designated areas to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Collaborate with scheduling and production teams to ensure materials are available for manufacturing.
• Pull and stage materials for production based on pick lists and work orders.
• Update inventory management systems (ERP/MRP) in real-time for material movements.
• Assist in cycle counting and inventory audits to ensure accurate inventory records.
• Maintain general housekeeping and organization of the warehouse according to 5S standards.
• Adhere to safety protocols when handling materials, including hazardous materials when applicable.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement in material handling workflows.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and inventory management principles.
• Basic math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of manufacturing performance indicators such as productivity, utilization, and efficiency.
• Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with team members and other departments.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift components weighing up to 50 pounds as required.

Desirable
• Previous experience in materials management or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with the company’s product offerings and customer base.
