Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

Early Development Biometrics (EDB) is a core function within Product Development Data Sciences (PDD) that provides strategic leadership and scientific rigor across early clinical development at Roche. As strategic partners in drug development, we apply our drug development and statistical expertise to the design and analysis of clinical development plans, clinical studies, and non-clinical experiments.

We are seeking a motivated intern to join the Early Development Biometrics (EDB) team in Basel. In this role, you will explore the application of advanced statistical frameworks within the context of modern trial designs.

The Opportunity

  • Get familiar with existing methods and clinical context through targeted literature review.

  • Identify and evaluate complementary statistical frameworks that could further optimize the proposed approaches.

  • Perform rigorous simulation work to evaluate the robustness and efficiency of study designs or decision-making frameworks in the face of evolving clinical landscapes.

  • Incorporate insights from internal data where appropriate to refine assumptions and enhance the clinical relevance of the research.

  • Consolidate research findings and simulation results into clear presentations.

  • Deliver high-quality code and outputs in a reproducible format with clear documentation to ensure the work is accessible and reusable for the broader team.

Who you are

  • You are enrolled in your Master’s or PhD studies or have completed your Master’s studies within 12 months prior to the internship start date in Statistics or a related field.

  • Technical Skills: A strong theoretical foundation in statistics, experience in applied statistics and proficiency in R programming.

  • Mindset: Highly organized, eager to learn, and passionate about connecting statistical theory with real-world drug development challenges.

  • Bonus Points: Familiarity with Bayesian approaches or dose-response modeling is a plus.

  • Language: Fluency in English.
