This is a lecture and tutorial based course designed to provide an overview of the fungal kingdom and the properties of major fungal pathogens that contribute to disease in animals (including humans) and plants. This course will address the mechanisms and clinical implications of fungal infections and host defence mechanisms. Topics include virulence factors and the treatment and diagnosis of infection.

Minimum Qualifications: Successful candidates should be near completion of their Ph.D. Candidates should also have experience in teaching topics in fungal biology as described in the calendar description included in this posting.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience teaching Fungal Biology and Pathogenesis at UTSC is an asset.

Duties: Specific duties include designing and delivering lectures, guiding student discussions and assessing oral presentations, designing and marking writing assignments, design and delivery of data collection exercises, preparation of a final exam, marking/grading, office hours and miscellaneous clerical tasks.

Please note all course components and duties are performed on the UTSC campus in person. No changes to the course delivery mode are permitted.

There are no hybrid options in the Department of Biological Sciences at UTSC for lectures, tutorials, laboratories or exams.
